Next up in my line of naughty purchases are the new Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 hr Eyeshadows in Bad to the Bronze (25) and Tough as Taupe (35). I will say immediately that these are very comparable to MAC's Paint Pots, both in formulation and wear. Even the packaging is reminiscent of MAC's glass pots. These cream eyeshadows are the dense, dryer sort that grow creamy when warmed up with touch, rather than being whipped or mousse-like in texture. They are nicely pigmented and once they dry down, they do not budge. I sometimes have trouble blending when I use a cream product that dries down, but the Color Tattoo eyeshadows remain emollient for enough time that you may comfortably blend the colors out.

Bad to the Bronze is my preferred color, a shimmery medium taupe brown. It actually looks more taupe to me than Tough as Taupe, which is a putty gray shade with purple leanings. Tough as Taupe has very subtle shimmers but it comes across matte. I think it looks much darker on the skin than it appears in the pot.

The bottom line is that these are wonderful additions to the drugstore, which I don't believe has ever offered cream eyeshadows that dry down like Paint Pots or MUF Aqua Creams. I found them for $7.39 per pot at CVS, which is a steal compared to $17.50 for a Paint Pot or $22 for an Aqua Cream. I actually saw these at Target first but the stand had been raided already, and only a couple of the brighter shades remained. I held back then, but I am pretty sure they were probably even cheaper than what CVS charges. There are 10 shades available with a good mix of neutrals and brights. I of course opted for the neutrals but I'm very excited to see this sort of product being released in a drugstore line, and with such a nice selection of colors. I definitely recommend them, especially if you're a fan of Paint Pots or the like!

I compared Bad to the Bronze to some other taupe/brown shades that I have been favoring lately. On the far left is Buxom's Stay There Cream Shadow in Mutt, which has been my go-to lid color this past month. As you can see, it is lighter, warmer, and pinker than Bad to the Bronze. To the left of Bad to the Bronze is Loreal's Infallible Eye Shadow in Bronzed Taupe, which I have reviewed here. They are incredibly similar, although Bronzed Taupe is grayer while Bad to the Bronze is more golden. All three have very different formulations so I am comparing color only.
